"A slick, energetic debut feature that finds a flashy comedic hook on which to hang another critique of patronage and nepotism in Italy’s professional fields… a crowdpleaser." Dennis Harvey, Variety

"Smetto Quando Voglio is both a skilfully plotted farce and a penetrating satire of a society that has Latinists working as petrol-pump attendants and where out of work professors play down their academic pasts as regrettable youthful errors." Jason Best, Movie Talk

A smash hit in Italy, this 2014 comedy about a university researcher, laid off by budget cuts, who recruits his former colleagues to produce and market illicit chemical substances inevitably recalls TV’s Breaking Bad. But Sibilia’s movie is lighter, more reminiscent of classic crime capers like Big Deal on Madonna Street or The Ladykillers.
