Volunteer Job Description

Position: Bingo volunteer positions

Department/Program: Bingo

Supervisor: Bingo manager

Staff General Description: Under the direction of the Bingo staff, assist with pottering bingo players to the Grand ball room. During the Bingo game, keep track of numbers called and assist bingo players as needed with marking their cards.

Approximate time commitment: 4-6 hours

Frequency: 1/week

Occurs: Sunday

We are looking for volunteers willing to work bingos for us 2-3 times a month. Below there is a list of bingo volunteer positions and their responsibilities.

You must be at least 18 years of age or older to be considered for the position.


  1. Shift starts around 3:00 p.m.
  2. The primary role is for sales of ‘regular’ bingo cards to customers. Ring up sales, take in money, and provide the customers with the correct receipt and change.
  3. Check the float at the beginning of the shift.
  4. Make deposits of excess cash to the cash room regularly.
  5. Shift ends around 7:00 p.m.

Card Distribution

  1. Shift starts around 3:00 p.m.
  2. The primary role is to distribute the correct regular cards bought by the customer.
  3. Stamp the back of the card books with the correct stamps per receipts.
  4. Shift ends around 7:00 p.m.

Bonanza Room Distribution

  1. Shift starts around 2:30 p.m.
  2. The primary role is to distribute the special bingo game cards.
  3. Prepare the special bingo game cards, provided by the managers, for distribution to Bonanza sellers.
  4. Prepare the Bonanza sellers record sheet.
  5. Provide the Bonanza sellers with cards and money float.
  6. Cash out sellers every time a ‘special’ game is played.
  7. Make regular deposits to the cash room.
  8. Cash out and balance sellers at the end of the evening.
  9. Return unsold cards and totals to the managers for return to inventory.
  10. Shift ends at end of Bingo, around 10:30 p.m.

Bonanza Sellers

  1. Shift starts around 2:30 p.m.
  2. Receive and sign-for card inventory and float.
  3. Make sales to customers by roaming the bingo hall.
  4. Return to Bonanza room to buy more cards when inventory is sold.
  5. Return to Bonanza room with unsold cards and sales money for each special game just before commencement of game.
  6. Reconcile and balance sales at end of evening.
  7. Shift ends around 10:00.

Cash Room

  1. Shift starts around 5:00 p.m.
  2. Count and record cash that is deposited by cashiers, and Bonanza Room.
  3. Check card inventories.
  4. Fill reports required by Gaming.
  5. Provide the Payouts with cash for paying bingo prizes.
  6. Balance sales against cash and reconcile differences.
  7. Prepare floats for the following week.
  8. Create deposits.
  9. Shift ends around 10:30 or when all reports and deposits are complete.


  1. Shift starts around 5:30 p.m.
  2. Pay customers winning prizes as determined by the Caller.
  3. Record winner cards and prize amount and have winners sign for prizes.
  4. Collect prize money from the Cash Room as required.
  5. Reconcile and balance and returned cash at end of evening.
  6. Shift ends around 10:00 or end of Bingo.

Kitchen Volunteers

  1. Shift starts around 1:00
  2. Prepare fillings for sandwiches (boil eggs, chop celery, onions, etc.)
  3. Make sandwiches and buns (amounts vary by Bingo attendance)
  4. Put pasta sauce to warm
  5. Boil water for pasta
  6. Make use of any leftover foods left by catering staff
  7. Individually wrap muffins, donuts, etc.
  8. Slice butter and wrap buns for pasta dinner
  9. Prepare table and fixings for pasta (i.e. cheese, salt, pepper, forks, napkins, plates, take away bags, containers)
  10. Stock bar (coffee, tea, cups, sugar, milk, pop, chips, chocolate bars, etc.)
  11. Bar opens between 3:00 and 4:00 with at least two servers
  12. Kitchen servers serve pasta at 4:30 with three servers and one to cook pasta as required.
  13. Put all food stuffs away in cages at end of second Bingo break
  14. Clean kitchen (pots, pans, cutlery)
  15. Stock cages
  16. Count cash and verify with Bingo manager. Deposit cash to Bingo manager.
  17. Shift ends around 9:30
