Jazz Night: Cory Weeds Quintet ft. Harold Mabern & Brad Turner

Date & Time

  • February 2, 2017
    6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

There isn’t a musician that legendary Harold Mabern speaks more about than the great Lee Morgan. Harold was under the employ of Morgan from 1965 until his untimely death in 1972. During his time with Morgan he also recorded with two of the most highly regarded tenor saxophonists: Hank Mobley’s ‘Dippin’, recorded and released in 1965, and with Wayne Shorter on Lee Morgan’s ‘The Gigolo’ also recorded in 1965 but released in 1968. Join Harold Mabern (piano) along with guest Brad Turner (trumpet), Cory Weeds (tenor sax), Michael Glylnn (bass) and Julian MacDonough (drums) as they play music from these two great recordings. Fazioli Showcase Pianos is kindly providing a real Fazioli grand piano for this concert. A buffet is available from 6.00 pm until 7.00 pm. The concert starts at 7.00 pm. Tickets are $40 for dinner and concert, and $20 just for the concert; advanced registration is recommended – especially for big groups. Limited tickets are also available at the door.
