Date & Time
- Dessert Class Oct. 19
October 19, 2020 - October 20, 2020
In Italian, the expression “dolce al cucchiaio” («spoon dessert») is used to indicate a dessert whose creamy, soft, frothy texture requires the use of a spoon to be consumed and enjoyed. Italy is home to many world-renown “dolci al cucchiaio”, and some of them have become stars in the international dessert panorama. Two of the most popular ones are tiramisù (literally, «pick me up»), that originated from the north-eastern regions of Italy, and panna cotta («cooked cream»), whose origins trace back to the north-western region of Piedmont.
The Centre is teaming up with Chef Tanis Petrin to present a series of classes exploring not only traditional Italian desserts, but also innovative and creative desserts that are inspired by Italian sweets.
Chef Tanis Petrin is originally from northern BC, and has a decade-long experience in the hospitality industry; she helped open the restaurant Nightingale five years ago, and since then she has been working with Chef Sergio Cinti, who runs il Centro’s Pasta Making Classes. Sergio has inspired her to learn about Italian traditions and culture, and Tanis is very excited to be able to teach the secrets of Italian desserts in this hands-on class, where students will be able to sample their delicious creations.
All attendees will receiving a coupon for a complimentary dessert at Nightingale.
Bring your mask, gloves if you feel like wearing them, an apron, a clean container, warm and comfortable clothes and shoes, and – don’t forget to bring an appetite! Feel free to bring a bottle of wine, as well.
