The second free webinar of Dante Lives!
Explores how Dante’s work has been adapted in comics, and specifically in manga (Japanese comics). Focusing on the work of artist Go Nagai, the author of Mazinga, Ufo Robot… and many popular characters, participants will learn how Dante’s works have influenced a world-famous Japanese artist, leading him to create a unique manga version of Dante’s Commedia.
Raul Ciannella is a researcher in literary theory and comparative literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). He specializes in both science fiction and fantastic literature. Born in Milan (Italy), has lived in Dublin where he studied Performing Arts, and in Rome where he obtained a Diploma in Film Directing. He’s currently working on his thesis on pioneer Italian science fiction author, translator and editor Roberta Rambelli, about whom has already published an article in the academic journal Altre Modernità. He has also translated various authors from English, Spanish and Catalan into Italian, and from English and Italian into Spanish.
