Learn the secrets of how to make your own homemade and hand-stretched cheeses, following the teachings of our exceptional instructor. Paula Maddison.
Paula Maddison lives on Gabriola Island, where she aspires to live a life as sustainable as possible, and she has been refining and teaching the lost art of cheese making for the past decade. Her mission is to demystify the idea that cheese making is difficult through her demonstrative classes, where students are welcome to taste, touch and feel each phase of the creation of the cheese.
This class will explore the secrets of some of the most iconic Italian cheeses: mozzarella, burrata, and bocconcini. Students will bring home instructions and ingredients to make their own mozzarella, and they will learn some unique and creative serving ideas.
The workshop will be held in one of our Halls. A limited number of tickets is available for this socially distanced event, where precautions will be taken to avoid the spread of Covid-19, following the restrictions and instructions from the BC Health Authority. Ticket sales close the day before the event.
Refund Policy No cash refunds are available for the cultural events, workshop & classes. With at least 7 days’ notice, we would be happy to provide a credit to use towards other workshops and selected Il Centro initiatives (please inquire). If you give us less than 7 days’ notice, we may be able to issue a credit if we can fill your seat from our waiting list, but there is no guarantee. No credit will be issued for no-shows: whether you are able to attend or not, the instructor still needs to be fairly compensated. All tickets are 100% transferable at any time – just provide your receipt to the person attending or let us know their name by phone or email.
